RAM / Memory Installation Guide

RAM / Memory installation is fairly easy, but you must be careful not to damage it because one messed up bit can cause you computer to crash constantly.

NOTE: Make sure you have the right kind of RAM / memory for your cheap computer, you motherboard book will say what type of RAM / memory you will need for your cheap computer.

SDRAM can be distiguished from DDR RAM by its notches. SDRAM has 2 notches, one in the middle and one near the edge of one side.

Now find the RAM slots of your cheap computer's motherboard. Usually there are two or three slots for RAM, so you can add more later if you want.

First, open the locks on each side of the RAM slot, you wont be able to insert the RAM without opening these.

Now line up the notches on the RAM with the ridges in the slot and slide the RAM into place and press down until it clicks into place. The locks on the sides should click in and lock while you are pressing the RAM in, they fit into 2 notches on the side of the RAM so you will know when it is in.

There you go, your RAM has been installed into your cheap computer!

DDR RAM is distinguishable from SDRAM by the notches in it. DDR RAM has only one notch in the center of the stick.

To install the DDR RAM, find the RAM slots on you cheap computer motherboard, there should be two or three slots all side by side..

Now, open the locks on either side of the slot, you won't be able to insert the RAM without these locks open, and line up the DDR RAM notches with the ridges in the slot.

Now press the DDR RAM into the slot, the locks should close on the RAM when it is fully in.

Congrats! You now have DDR RAM in your cheap computer!
